IDEA Weslaco Pike was led to victory by Bradley Odoms and Josaiah Martinez. Odoms dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds, while Martinez scored 16 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Martinez has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Louie Gutierrez, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Progreso's loss came despite strong showings from Jerry Rodriguez and Julio Resendez. Rodriguez scored 22 points along with seven rebounds, while Resendez scored eight points along with 17 rebounds and two blocks. Resendez is crushing the rebound category: he's posted at least ten every time he's taken the court this season.
IDEA Weslaco Pike's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-13. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.7 points per game. As for Progreso, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-22.
IDEA Weslaco Pike will head out on the road to face off against Lyford at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Progreso, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Rio Hondo at 7:00 p.m. Rio Hondo will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something Progreso surely won't give up without a fight.
