Jules E. Mastbaum Vo-Tech put the finishing touches on their third blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They breezed by Arts Academy at Benjamin Rush at home to the tune of 69-36. Jules E. Mastbaum Vo-Tech's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Jules E. Mastbaum Vo-Tech's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cedric Brown Jr., who scored 22 points. That's the first time this season that Brown Jr. scored 15 or more points. Mikhael Batties was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Meanwhile, KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They beat Philadelphia Military Academy by the very same score they won with last week: 57-39.
KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy relied on the efforts of Sayid Cooley, who scored 24 points along with three blocks and two steals, and Kenyon Habersham, who scored 16 points along with six steals. Cooley hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Joshua Patterson, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Jules E. Mastbaum Vo-Tech's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points per game. As for KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Jules E. Mastbaum Vo-Tech hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 55.4 points per game. It's a different story for KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 43.9 points per game. The only thing between Jules E. Mastbaum Vo-Tech and another offensive beatdown is KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy. Will they be able to keep them contained?
