Thompson Valley and Mead are an even 3-3 against one another  since December of 2018, but  not for long. The Thompson Valley Eagles will face off against the Mead Mavericks at 6:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Thompson Valley is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup  on Saturday. Everything went their way against Palisade as Thompson Valley made off with  a  41-21 victory.
Meanwhile,  everything came up roses for Mead against Aurora Central on Saturday as the  team secured  a  55-13 win. Given the Mavericks' advantage  in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while the Trojans are ranked 171st), the result  wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mead found their leader in sophomore  Madi Clark, who  went 6-for-10  on her way to 15 points along with five  boards and four  steals. The team also got some help courtesy of  Darby Haley, who  shot 63% from the field to rack up 13  points.
 Mead was working as a unit and  finished the game with 14  assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Aurora Central only  one  assist.
 Mead has  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won 12 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-3 record  this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.8 points on average over those games. Thompson Valley pushed their record up to 17-7 with the  victory, which was their third straight  on the road.
 Thompson Valley lost to Mead on the road  by a decisive  60-43 margin  in their previous matchup  back in March of 2022. Can Thompson Valley avenge their  loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
