After flying high against the San Miguel Vipers on Thursday, the Catalina Trojans came back down to earth. Catalina had to suffer through a rough 64-19 loss at the hands of Amphitheater. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Catalina in their matchups with Amphitheater: they've now lost seven in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Amphitheater to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kayla Tuakalau, who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 10 rebounds. The match was Tuakalau's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Monica Verrett, who scored 10 points along with 5 steals.
Catalina's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Amphitheater, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.
Catalina's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Douglas at 7:00 p.m. on December 6th. Douglas is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Amphitheater, they will head out on the road to face off against Sahuaro at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Sahuaro is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
