The Aucilla Christian Warriors just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Echols County Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Hopefully Aucilla Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Thursday.
Aucilla Christian scored the most points they've had all season to find success. They enjoyed a cozy 66-51 victory over Wakulla Christian School.
Ethan Bass was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 11 assists. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Benjamin Faglie was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Echols County's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Clinch County, falling 80-20. While losing is never fun, Echols County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 546th, while Clinch County is ranked 193rd).
Aucilla Christian's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Echols County, they bumped their record down to 1-8 with that loss, which was their tenth straight on the road.
Aucilla Christian beat Echols County 61-54 when the teams last played back in November of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Aucilla Christian since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
