Athol had to kick off their season with an away game, and unfortunately wound up with a long bus ride home. They suffered a grim 16-48 defeat to Narragansett Regional on Friday. If Athol were expecting to get some payback for the 0-34 loss against Narragansett Regional the last time they met, then they were left disappointed. This was the first contest for both squads, starting Athol off on the wrong foot at 0-1, while giving Narragansett Regional a 1-0 record.
Athol will look to defend their home turf next week against Turners Falls/Pioneer Valley Regional at 7:00 PM. As for Narragansett Regional, they will face off against Quaboag Regional.
