The Taylor Prep Tigers will venture away from home to take on Summit Academy North at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
On Saturday, Taylor Prep and Lutheran finished up their matchup with an 8-8 draw.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Summit Academy North, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They blew past Hamtramck 15-2 on Thursday. The result was nothing new for Summit Academy North, who have now won nine contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
Kody Osborne spent all four innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Summit Academy North got a big performance out of Brandon Avery, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one double. That's the most runs Avery has posted since back in April. Cam Knizewski was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Summit Academy North pushed their record up to 12-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. Taylor Prep's tie makes their record 12-8-1 this season.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Taylor Prep has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .509. However, it's not like Summit Academy North struggles in that department as they've averaged .531. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Taylor Prep suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Summit Academy North when the teams last played back in April. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
