The Humboldt Cubs stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They breezed by Cherryvale on the road to the tune of 74-36. Humboldt's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Humboldt's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sam Hull led the charge by scoring 24 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hull has scored all season. Colden Cook was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Cherryvale's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Landon Fox, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds, and Leuie Umbarger who scored seven points along with five assists and three steals.
The win was the third in a row for Humboldt, bringing their record for this year to 9-1. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 36 points. As for Cherryvale, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
Humboldt will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Erie at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. After both having extra time off, Cherryvale and Neodesha will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Neodesha is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
