The Harford Tech Cobras just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Elkton Golden Elks at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
On Monday, Harford Tech came up short against the Cougars and fell 57-44. While losing is never fun, Harford Tech can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 177th, while the Cougars are ranked 47th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Sophia Mace, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals. It was the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jessica Castro, who scored nine points along with five assists and two steals.
Meanwhile, Elkton had to suffer through a rough 57-30 loss at the hands of the Panthers.
Like Harford Tech, Elkton lost despite seeing results from several players. Jayla Payne led the charge by scoring ten points. Another player making a difference was LeeAnn Pugh, who scored eight points.
Harford Tech has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Elkton, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-12.
Everything came up roses for Harford Tech against the Golden Elks in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 62-22 win. With Harford Tech ahead 39-8 at the half, the match was all but over already.
