Football Recap: Maranatha Has No Trouble Against Arrowhead Christian

Maranatha lost to Arrowhead Christian back in October of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Minutemen blew past the Eagles 37-14. The result was nothing new for the Minutemen, who have now won three games by 20 points or more so far this season.

One reason for the win was Maranatha's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Tommy Macfarlane, Sammy Byrnes, and Kade Bentkowski-Holdren, who each picked up one sack apiece. Maranatha received some extra help from Nick Goodman, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Despite the defeat, Arrowhead Christian had strong showings from Alex Divers, who rushed for 88 yards and one TD, and Cam Pierce, who rushed for 23 yards and one score. Pierce was even better on defense, forcing one fumble and making three total tackles.

Maranatha's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-3. As for Arrowhead Christian, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Maranatha will challenge Big Bear at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Arrowhead Christian, they will take on Western Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will need to watch out since the Fighting Lancers have now posted at least 31 points in their last five matchups.
