Newberry had to endure a five-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Cedarville by a score of 55-45 on Thursday. That looming 55-45 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Newberry yet this season.
Meanwhile, Brimley suffered a rough 72-48 loss at the hands of Rudyard on Thursday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Brimley in their matchups with Rudyard: they've now lost nine in a row.
Brimley's loss came about despite a quality game from Perry LeBlanc, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds. LeBlanc scored a full 41.7% of Brimley's points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jay Tagerson, who scored five points along with eight rebounds.
Newberry's victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-3. As for Brimley, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.
Newberry took a serious blow against Brimley in their previous meeting back in February, falling 66-31. Can Newberry avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
