Basketball Recap: Jacksonville Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Jacksonville Christian Academy played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 71-44 loss at the hands of the Faith Christian Academy Conquerors. If the Conquerors were looking for revenge after losing 65-34 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Jacksonville Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Kellen Evans, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Evans has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Joshua Barrientos, who posted ten points.

It was another big night for Andrew Kelly, who went 9 of 13 on his way to 20 points in addition to eight rebounds and six steals for Faith Christian Academy. The dominant performance gave Kelly a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxon Howard, who put up 17 points along with five assists and four steals.

Jacksonville Christian Academy is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7. As for Faith Christian Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-3.

Jacksonville Christian Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-52 win against Bethel Assembly Christian Academy on the 17th. As for Faith Christian Academy, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Trinity Christian at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
