The Bovina Mustangs lost against the Panhandle Panthers back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The match between Bovina and Panhandle wasn't particularly close, with Bovina falling 48-32. Bovina has not had much luck with Panhandle recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Bovina lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Daniel Herrera, who scored five points along with ten rebounds and three blocks. It was the first time this season that Herrera posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Miguel Lopez, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Bovina has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-18 record this season. As for Panhandle, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-10.
Bovina will look to defend their home court on Friday against Highland Park at 6:00 p.m. Highland Park has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Panhandle, they will head out on the road to square off against Farwell at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Farwell knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Panhandle likes a good challenge.
