After both having extra time off, the High Tech Mesa Thunder and the El Camino Wildcats will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
On Thursday, High Tech Mesa came up short against Horizon Prep and fell 3-1.
While High Tech Mesa ultimately came up short, they really made Horizon Prep work, particularly in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 29-27, 24-26, 25-20.

Despite the loss, High Tech Mesa had strong showings from Kaya Helm, who had 26 kills, and Samaria Baron, who had 37 assists. Baron has been hot for a while, having posted 16 or more assists the last 14 times she's played.
Meanwhile, El Camino unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-match winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of Canyon Crest Academy by a score of 3-2.
El Camino took Canyon Crest Academy into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking six-point loss. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-14, 25-22, 21-25, 15-9.
El Camino's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 27-11. As for High Tech Mesa, their loss dropped their record down to 14-12.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Wednesday's contest: High Tech Mesa has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 12.3 aces per game. However, it's not like El Camino struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
High Tech Mesa couldn't quite get it done against El Camino in their previous meeting back in August as they fell 2-0. Can the Thunder avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
