It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Foothill Cougars had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Red Bluff and snuck past 17-14. The victory was just what Foothill needed coming off of a 36-13 loss in their prior game.
Despite the loss, Red Bluff still got an impressive performance from Jose (chacho) Chavez, who rushed for 133 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.3 yards per carry. Chavez hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for four straight games. Lucas Owens got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Foothill has yet to lose a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 6-5 record. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 32.4 points per game. As for Red Bluff, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-6.
Foothill will face off against Chico at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Chico will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. Red Bluff does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
