Houston County is 7-0 against Big Sandy since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Houston County Fighting Irish will head out on the road to challenge the Big Sandy Red Devils at 7:30 p.m. Houston County will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Houston County can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent game on Tuesday. They blew past Waverly Central 63-36 on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Houston County has posted since November 21, 2023.
Big Sandy suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They were outmatched by McEwen on the road and fell 70-28. While losing is never fun, Big Sandy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 404th, while McEwen is ranked 189th).
Garrett Cagle put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Seth Green, who scored five points.
Houston County's win bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Big Sandy, they dropped their record down to 3-10 with that defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road.
Everything went Houston County's way against Big Sandy in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as Houston County made off with a 66-45 win. Does Houston County have another victory up their sleeve, or will Big Sandy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
