Softball Recap: Safford Wins Going Away Against Catalina

Safford got themselves on the board against Catalina on Tuesday, but Catalina never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Trojans. Considering the Bulldogs have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Marley Jurado, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Trynity Dominguez, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run.

Safford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .727. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

Safford now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Catalina, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Safford will host Tanque Verde at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Hawks' pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Catalina, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Palo Verde at 4:00 p.m.
