They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Rocky Mount Prep 60-22 on the road. Given Northampton County's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 266th, while the Jaguars are ranked 595th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Michaela Hodge, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 16 rebounds. Hodge is crushing the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Charlice Tyner, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Northampton County is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. As for Rocky Mount Prep, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northampton County will face off against the Chargers at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Weldon is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games. As for Rocky Mount Prep, they will head out on the road to square off against the Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
