This season hasn't been kind to the Unity Reed Lions, who are still winless after their 16th matchup. They were dealt a 60-26 defeat at the hands of Patriot on Tuesday. Unity Reed has struggled against the Pioneers recently, as their game on Tuesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Leading Patriot to victory were Cheyenne Sweeney and Ella Negron. Sweeney scored 20 points along with two steals, while Negron dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sweeney has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Maysa Bilal, who scored six points along with four steals.
Unity Reed dropped their record down to 0-16 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 16.0 points per game. As for Patriot, their victory bumped their record up to 7-12.
Unity Reed will be playing at home against the Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Battlefield presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Lions in Virginia (the Bobcats are ranked 89th, while the Lions are ranked 348th). As for Patriot, they will head out on the road to square off against the Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Osbourn Park knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully the Pioneers likes a good challenge.
