The Triad Cardinals won the last time they faced the Ridgemont Golden Gophers, and things went their way on Monday too. Triad put the hurt on Ridgemont with a sharp 56-34 win. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 18 to 4 on the offensive boards, as Triad did.
Triad can attribute much of their success to Emma Ferguson, who scored 24 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. The matchup was Ferguson's third in a row with at least ten points. Abbey Overfield was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with ten rebounds and seven steals.
Several Golden Gophers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jayda Dondrea, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds. Dondrea hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Ramsey, who scored 14 points along with three blocks.
Ridgemont struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Triad's victory bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Ridgemont, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Triad will challenge Southeastern Local at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Southeastern Local is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games. Ridgemont won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Crestline at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th.
