Beyer moved up to 488 from 519 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Modesto Metro. The Patriots climbed the ranks as a result of beating Modesto 48-19.
Downey extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Davis, 71-7. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Knights.
Downey's dynamic duo of Aaron Zwahlen and Richard Lopez proved tough for the Spartans to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Zwahlen threw for 283 yards and five touchdowns and Lopez had 100 yards receiving. Blake Lopes helped Downey's passing attack out by catching five balls for 73 yards.
Aden Ruiz was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 225 yards on 22 carries as Beyer defeated Davis. Jay Harris also contributed to the rushing game with 109 yards on the ground.
The Knights' Zwahlen and Lopez have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Modesto Metro in both passing and receiving yards. Zwahlen has thrown for 2621 yards this season, while Lopez, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 39 catches for 839 yards. Bill Flesher's team's Ruiz leads the league in rushing yards with 1059.
Shawn Munoz of the Enochs is only 89 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 99 carries Munoz has accumulated 911 yard this year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Downey takes on the Patriots. The Knights are in first place, while Beyer is in third place.
