The South Lenoir Blue Devils lost against the Richlands Wildcats last Monday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. South Lenoir fell to Richlands 37-33. While losing is never fun, South Lenoir can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 255th, while Richlands is ranked 75th).
Despite the loss, South Lenoir still got an impressive performance from Katherine Thompson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. Thompson scored a full 36.4% of South Lenoir's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
It was another big night for Tashi Allen, who scored 16 points along with 6 rebounds for Richlands. Another player making a difference was Jayla Bonney, who scored 8 points along with 10 rebounds.
South Lenoir's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Richlands, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
South Lenoir will head out on the road to face off against Ayden - Grifton at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Ayden - Grifton is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Richlands, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Southwest Onslow at 6:30 p.m.
