The Portal Panthers waltzed into Friday's match with three straight wins but they left with four. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 36-34 win over Jenkins County. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Portal got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Elijah Coleman out in front who threw for 143 yards and four touchdowns while completing 82.4% of his passes. Amir Jackson was another key contributor, picking up 87 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Portal is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Jenkins County, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 10-1.
