Crestview hasn't had much luck against Lake Catholic recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Rebels will square off against the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Crestview sitting on five straight wins and Lake Catholic on four.
Crestview is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over Chagrin Falls.
The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 22-25, 25-17, 25-22.
Crestview's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kerrigan Miller, who had 20 digs and one assist. Another player making a difference was Valerie Boyd, who had six digs and four aces.
Crestview was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least nine aces in eight consecutive matches.
Norwayne typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Lake Catholic proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Bobcats by a score of 3-1.
The victory didn't come easy: Norwayne scored at least 19 points in every set. The final score came out to 26-24, 18-25, 25-19, 25-20.
Crestview better focus on containing Maddie Summers and Lola Loncar as the pair were huge in Lake Catholic's win. Summers had 14 digs, while Loncar had 35 digs and three aces. Loncar is crushing it when it comes to digs: she's had at least ten every time she's taken the court this season.
Lake Catholic's win bumped their record up to 15-10. As for Crestview, their victory bumped their record up to 22-3.
Crestview might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Lake Catholic when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Rebels avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
