Football Game Preview: Compass Academy Cougars vs. Alpine Bucks

Compass Academy hasn't had much luck against Alpine recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Cougars will venture away from home to face off against the Bucks at 7:00 p.m. Compass Academy is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.

Compass Academy's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 38-0 victory over Anthony. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won six contests by 33 points or more so far this season.

Valois Terecero was his usual excellent self, rushing for 204 yards and one TD while picking up 8.9 yards per carry. Those 204 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Jacob Bartlett got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Compass Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 297 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Compass Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Bartlett and Jaylen Jiminez. Bartlett got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Alpine played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Crane, falling 42-21. The Bucks have struggled against the Cranes recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Compass Academy's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Alpine, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

Everything came up roses for Compass Academy against Alpine in their previous meeting back in October, as the team secured a 52-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
