The Whitmer Panthers suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Saturday. They were outmatched by Bedford on the road and fell 55-27. While losing is never fun, Whitmer can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 157th in Ohio, while Bedford is ranked 46th in Michigan).
Whitmer's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jada Shoup, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Bralynne Dunn was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Whitmer struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Whitmer are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-7. As for Bedford, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with that victory, which was their 14th straight at home.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Whitmer will take on Ross at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Ross will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Bedford, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Saline at 5:30 p.m. Saline and Bedford are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
