Make it 11 blowout wins for the Gainesville Cardinals this season. They breezed by Unity Reed at home to the tune of 82-20. Gainesville's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Leading Gainesville to victory were Aashi Chhabra and Leylani Abraham. Chhabra scored 16 points along with five rebounds, while Abraham scored 20 points along with six rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Abraham scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Delaney Gilliam, who scored six points along with five assists and four steals.
The win (which was Gainesville's fifth in a row) raised their record to 18-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.4 points per game. As for Unity Reed, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-15.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gainesville will challenge Osbourn Park at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Osbourn Park is on a six-game streak of home wins, Gainesville a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Unity Reed, they will head out on the road to square off against Freedom at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Freedom presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Unity Reed in Virginia (Freedom is ranked 77th, while Unity Reed is ranked 348th).
