The Wallace Wildcats had to hit the road for their first game and sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a 49-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wauneta-Palisade. Wallace has struggled against Wauneta-Palisade recently, as their match on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kendyl Flaming, who scored 19 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Another player making a difference was Reagan Pelster, who scored 12 points along with 4 steals.
Wauneta-Palisade's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Peyton Cox, who scored 15 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of GraCee Goings, who scored 12 points along with 9 rebounds and 8 steals.
Wallace's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Wauneta-Palisade, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Wallace will be playing in front of their home fans against Maywood/Hayes Center at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Wauneta-Palisade, they will head out on the road to face off against Cambridge at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Cambridge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Thursday.
