Softball Recap: Anthony Wayne Triumphs

While Anthony Wayne put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Defiance. The Generals came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 4-0. The victory continues a trend for the Generals in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won four in a row.

Mackenzie Barker was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 17 over seven innings pitched. Barker was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, Lyla Carrizales was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Megan Sumner was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

Anthony Wayne hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Defiance struck out 17 times.

Anthony Wayne's record is now 5-1. As for Defiance, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Anthony Wayne will host Northview at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Defiance, they will be playing at home against Celina at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The game will give Defiance their first taste of in-conference action this season.
