Basketball Recap: Ocala Christian's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Ocala Christian had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They skirted past the First Assembly Christian Academy Eagles 58-56. For the Crusaders, this counts as revenge for the 51-36 win the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2023.

Ocala Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Conrad Bloom led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 14 points and nine boards. Those nine rebounds gave Bloom a new career-high. Wes Wade was another key player, going 6 for 13 on his way to 14 points.

First Assembly Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Sean James, who went 10 of 21 on his way to 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jausten Rivera, who posted six points in addition to eight assists and six boards.

Ocala Christian now has a winning record of 5-4. As for First Assembly Christian Academy, they moved to 10-2 with that defeat, which also ended their ten-game winning streak.

Ocala Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 72-45 loss against Taylor on the 17th. As for First Assembly Christian Academy, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Ocala Christian at 5:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
