The Mount Morris Blue Devils will head out on the road to challenge the Pavilion Golden Gophers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mount Morris knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine games -- so hopefully the Golden Gophers like a good challenge.
Last Friday, Mount Morris was able to grind out a solid victory over the Indians, taking the game 57-46.
Mount Morris got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Anthony Hightower out in front who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Hightower is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Mason Santini was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Even though Pavilion has not done well against the Yellowjackets recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Pavilion came out on top against the Yellowjackets by a score of 56-48. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Pavilion.
Mount Morris' win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-5. As for Pavilion, their win bumped their record up to 4-8.
Everything went Mount Morris' way against the Golden Gophers in their previous matchup back in January as the Blue Devils made off with a 71-50 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mount Morris since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
