Compass Academy will face off against the Early Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, while Compass Academy put up plenty of points, the same can't be said for Tornillo. Compass Academy blew past Tornillo, posting a 42-0 victory on the road. The victory was just what Compass Academy needed coming off of a 41-7 loss in their prior contest.
Compass Academy relied on the efforts of Braxton Morris, who gained 160 total yards, and Christian Davalos, who rushed for 139 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries. Davalos was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 63 yards. Ryan Farris was in the mix as well, providing Compass Academy with two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Early didn't have too much trouble with San Angelo Texas Leadership Charter Academy on the road on Friday as they won 35-21. The victory was just what Early needed coming off of a 50-6 defeat in their prior game.
Griffin Cheslock was a one-man wrecking crew for Early as he rushed for 217 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.4 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Rohyn Price, who threw for 160 yards and two touchdowns.
Compass Academy's victory bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Early, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 5-5 record this season.
Compass Academy took a serious blow against Early in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, falling 62-0. Can Compass Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
