The Bishop O'Connell Knights''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They suffered a rough 30-6 loss at the hands of Bishop Ireton. Bishop O'Connell was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Bishop Ireton apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Mark Sirianni threw for 100 yards and a touchdown. Aidan Munroe was his top target, picking up 84 receiving yards and a touchdown. On the ground, Nate Harrison rushed for 34 yards.
Bishop Ireton had a senior duo take command as Omar Diallo rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries and Aaron Rocke gained 93 total yards and two touchdowns. Diallo was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 51 yards. Aiden Gray did his part by putting the 'special' in special teams, booting in three field goals and three extra points.
Bishop O'Connell has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Bishop Ireton, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.
Bishop O'Connell will head out on the road to face off against Paul VI at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Paul VI is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Bishop Ireton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Mary's Ryken at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. St. Mary's Ryken is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
