Tennessee has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 30 points or more this season. They blew past John Battle, posting a 65-28 victory on the road. That looming 65-28 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Tennessee yet this season.
Tennessee found their leader in underclassman Addie Wilhoit, who scored 15 points along with three steals. The contest was Wilhoit's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Mazzy Wilson was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for West Ridge, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 60-42 loss to David Crockett on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, West Ridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 187th, while David Crockett is ranked 21st).
Tennessee's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-3. As for West Ridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.
Tennessee was able to grind out a solid victory over West Ridge when the teams last played two weeks ago, winning 57-49. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tennessee since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
