Basketball Recap: Mt. Hebron Extends Winning Streak to Six

Mt. Hebron came tearing into Friday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 50-38 victory over the KIPP College Prep Panthers. The win was all the more spectacular given the Vikings' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 80th in Maryland, while the Panthers are ranked 20th in District of Columbia).

Defeat or not, KIPP College Prep got some senior leadership from Kaden Butler and Elijah Butts. Butler posted 12 points in addition to seven boards and five assists, while Butts had 15 points along with six boards and three steals. That's the most rebounds Butler has posted since back in January of 2024.

Mt. Hebron's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for KIPP College Prep, they dropped their record down to 5-5 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Mt. Hebron didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 78-69 defeat against Suitland on the 28th. As for KIPP College Prep, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 62-46 win against Northwood on the 28th.
