Hemet has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Orange Vista Coyotes at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Wednesday, Hemet strolled past Moreno Valley with points to spare, taking the game 69-50. Given Hemet's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 280th, while Moreno Valley is ranked 719th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Even though Orange Vista has not done well against Moreno Valley recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Orange Vista skirted past Moreno Valley 47-44. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Orange Vista has posted yet this season.
The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Henry Washington and Jamall Thompson. Washington had a solid game and scored seven points along with five assists and four steals. Meanwhile, Thompson did his best for the losing side, scoring 14 points.
Hemet has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. As for Orange Vista, they now have a winning record of 11-10.
Everything went Hemet's way against Orange Vista in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as Hemet made off with a 77-55 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Orange Vista's Raylinn Simpson, who scored 25 points along with seven rebounds. Now that he won't be playing on Wednesday, will it be that much easier for Hemet to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
