On Wednesday, Academy Charter had to suffer through a rough 95-54 loss at the hands of St. Mary's. Even though they lost, Academy Charter's still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50.8 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Despite the loss, Academy Charter still got an impressive performance from Joel Beard, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Christian Stanley , who scored nine points.
This is the second loss in a row for Academy Charter and nudges their season record down to 1-3. As for St. Mary's, their victory ended a nine-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Academy Charter will finish 2023 at home by hosting Seaford at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. Mary's will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Chaminade at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
