The Priory Panthers's game on Tuesday was all tied up 33-33 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 69-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of Menlo School. While losing is never fun, Priory can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 654th, while Menlo School is ranked 256th).
When it comes to explaining why Priory lost, one person who can't be blamed is Balasz Nyikos. Despite the final result, he scored 16 points along with seven steals and six assists. Another player making a difference was Teddy Xanthopoulos, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Priory's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Menlo School, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 10-8 record this season.
Priory will be playing at home against Harker at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Menlo School, they will head out on the road to take on Pinewood at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Pinewood is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
