If the Weir Red Riders were riding high off their 70-50 takedown of the Oak Glen Golden Bears on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Weir's tough 91-69 defeat to Harrison Central on Friday might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Weir can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 278th in West Virginia, while Harrison Central is ranked 27th in Ohio).
Despite the loss, Weir still got an impressive performance from Colin Cross, who scored 31 points. Another player making a difference was Corey Lyons, who scored 14 points.
Weir's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-1. As for Harrison Central, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Weir will head out on the road to face off against Wheeling Park at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Harrison Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Carrollton at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
