Holy Name has won four straight games at home, while Tallmadge has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. Reagan Vavro spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on eight hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Holy Name saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anna Soos, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Tallmadge beat Chardon 8-5 on Monday.
Tallmadge also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Larissa Taylor gave up only one earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits.
On the hitting side, Naomi Richardson was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Leila Staszak was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Tallmadge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 12-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Tallmadge has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for Holy Name, their victory bumped their record up to 19-4.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Holy Name hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. However, it's not like Tallmadge struggles in that department as they've averaged .384. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
