The Casteel Colts will head out on the road to face off against the Corona del Sol Aztecs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Casteel is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
Last Friday, Casteel faced Basha in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Casteel was outmatched by Basha on the road and fell 43-7.
Meanwhile, Corona del Sol's three-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They blew past Desert Vista, posting a 45-14 win on the road.
Connor Ackerley was the offensive standout of the matchup as he threw for 242 yards and three touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes. Elijah Mckay made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Basha's win bumped their season record to 8-1 while Casteel's defeat dropped theirs to 4-5.
Casteel strolled past Corona del Sol in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 by a score of 31-14. The rematch might be a little tougher for Casteel since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
