The Southern Missouri RUSH * on the road again on Thursday and play against the Niangua Cardinals at 8:30 p.m. on January 25th. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Southern Missouri RUSH posted their biggest victory yet this season on Tuesday. They blew past Hollister 74-28 on the road. Given Southern Missouri RUSH's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 161st, while Hollister is ranked 449th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Niangua entered their tilt with Gloria Deo Academy with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Niangua simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Gloria Deo Academy 69-39 on the road. Niangua pushed the score to 60-29 by the end of the third, a deficit Gloria Deo Academy cut but never quite recovered from.
Niangua's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Clayton Henderson led the charge by scoring 28 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Scheetz, who scored 21 points along with seven steals and five assists.
Southern Missouri RUSH's win bumped their record up to 24-10. As for Niangua, their victory bumped their record up to 13-1.
Southern Missouri RUSH beat Niangua 67-56 in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Does Southern Missouri RUSH have another victory up their sleeve, or will Niangua turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
