The Forrest Rockets will challenge the Riverdale Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Forrest's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Riverdale's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Forrest blew Summit out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Summit got their revenge. The Rockets fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Rockets have suffered since May 8, 2024.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Riverdale). Everything went their way against Shelbyville Central on Saturday as they made off with a 14-4 win. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Golden Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Makayla Wilkerson tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in February.
On the hitting side, Cali Leverrette was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Lashaundra Fleming was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Riverdale was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Shelbyville Central only posted a batting average of .238.
Riverdale pushed their record up to 8-10 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Forrest, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season.
Forrest skirted past Riverdale 7-5 when the teams last played back in March. Do the Rockets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
