Baseball Game Preview: Fairview Knights vs. Erie Tigers

The Fairview Knights will head out to face off against the Erie Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Fairview is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.

Fairview's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Silver Creek by a score of 5-0.

The team relied heavily on Cooper Neumann, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Fairview is undefeated when Neumann posts two or more runs, but 0-4 otherwise. Asher Allen also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Erie came tearing into Tuesday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Coyotes 7-0. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won five matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Maddox Burnett was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI.

In other batting news, Taylor McMaster was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ronin Ward, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Erie's record now sits at 8-2. As for Fairview, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-4.

Fairview skirted past Erie 7-6 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
