Buckingham Charter took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Leroy Greene Academy Lions a 10-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won seven in a row.
Haley Griffin made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and only a hit while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. Griffin was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Juliette Spencer was excellent, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Alexis Romero-Mason was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Buckingham Charter will face off against Woodland Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Leroy Greene Academy, they will take on Foothill at 6:00 p.m. on February 25th.
