Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Heyworth

Heyworth entered their tilt with Peoria Christian on Monday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They walked away with a 7-3 win over the Chargers. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Hornets also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Carter Brooks was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 6.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Brooks was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Boston Katz was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Braxton Denning was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Heyworth hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Peoria Christian struck out seven times.

Heyworth pushed their record up to 18-14 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Peoria Christian, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-13.

Looking ahead, Heyworth will host Cornerstone Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Peoria Christian, they are taking a road trip to take on Deer Creek-Mackinaw at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
