The Burke County Bears entered their tilt with the Richmond Hill Wildcats with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Burke County took down Richmond Hill 56-40 on Thursday. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Burke County has scored all year.
Burke County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bryce Wimberly, who scored 18 points along with three steals. The contest was Wimberly's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was La'Quinton Morgan, who scored 11 points.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Joshua Scott, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Richmond Hill were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. This was only their eighth loss (out of nine games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Burke County's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Richmond Hill, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.
Burke County's road trip will continue as they head out to face Butler at 5:30 p.m. on December 27, 2023. Butler presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Burke County in Georgia (Butler is ranked 31st, while Burke County is ranked 144th). Richmond Hill and New Hampstead will face off at 6:30 p.m. on December 29, 2023 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. New Hampstead will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
