The Glen Allen Jaguars suffered their closest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They fell just short of Thomas Jefferson by a score of 58-55. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Glen Allen came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while Thomas Jefferson is ranked 271st).
Despite the defeat, Glen Allen saw an underclassman step up: Faron Friend scored 24 points. That was a full 43.6% of Glen Allen's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Kamden Tiller was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Thomas Jefferson's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zaymon Harris, who scored 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Harris has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Sampson, who scored 16 points.
Glen Allen's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Thomas Jefferson, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-9.
Glen Allen will play host again and welcome Godwin, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Godwin is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. As for Thomas Jefferson, they will challenge J.R. Tucker at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
