It was a good run, but the Quakertown Panthers unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 36-26 hit to the loss column at the hands of Perkiomen Valley. Quakertown lost against Perkiomen Valley in their previous head to head back in November of 2020, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 35-28 score last time.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Vince Micucci, who threw for 169 yards and three touchdowns. Anthony Ferrugio got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Perkiomen Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Juliun Corropolese, who threw for 147 yards and two touchdowns on only ten passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Robbie Sturges, who picked up 74 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Quakertown's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Perkiomen Valley, they pushed their record up to 9-3 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Quakertown will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Pennridge at 10:15 a.m. on November 23rd. Pennridge is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Perkiomen Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Downingtown East at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Downingtown East presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Perkiomen Valley in Pennsylvania (Downingtown East is ranked eighth, while Perkiomen Valley is ranked 55th).
