Westwood took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 89-23 victory over the Synergy Magnet K12 Saints. With the Panthers ahead 63-18 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Westwood was led to victory by Marcus 'Pick' Ellis and Alex 'The Leader' Jean. Ellis went 7-for-9 to rack up 16 points along with six steals and five boards, while Jean made all 6 shots he took for 13 points in addition to seven steals and six assists. Those seven steals gave Jean a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Edwin 'Flash' Gibson, who posted 11 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.
Coming up, Westwood will take on Lincoln Park Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Synergy Magnet K12, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Pine at 6:00 p.m. on December 9.
